IPAF Training is working at height training and it is a globally recognised training programme. IPAF stands for the International Powered Access Federation and it has been developed by leading industry professionals around the world. There are now 750 approved IPAF Training Centres.
IPAF Training consists of a comprehensive theory-based training and then a practical assessment. The theory can be classroom based or candidates can do IPAF’s online eLearning course. The certified IPAF Operator courses cover mobile elevating work platforms (known as MEWPs). This includes scissor lifts (3a mobile vertical), mobile booms (3b mobile boom), van mounted platforms, truck mounted platforms, tracked access platforms (1b static boom), mast climbing work platforms (known as MCWPs) and construction hoists. These courses are aimed at operators, delivery drivers, service technicians, employees who need to demonstrate access equipment to customers and those using MEWPs for installations.
There are also a wide range of courses aimed at Managers and Supervisors and for employees who need additional training in loading and unloading. The MEWPs for Managers course is designed for Supervisors/Managers who need training to ensure that MEWPs are being used safely on-site, also covering how to conduct risk assessments correctly, ensuring that the correct equipment is being used on-site.

eLearning is becoming increasing more popular. It provides the same high-quality theory training, but it gives candidates the flexibility of completing it as their own pace. It can be completed on most devices and takes approximately three hours to complete overall. A test must still be completed prior to the practical session taking place at an accredited Training Centre.
With the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, IPAF has also doubled the maximum amount of time between a candidate successfully completing their operator theory module via eLearning and the mandatory practical assessment to 90 days, to allow training Centres to like us to cope with the demand and to implement the recommended safe practices during this time.
