Championing Futures 2017September 01, 2017
Who are Foundation Futures?
Foundation Futures are one of our two chosen charities that we work closely with in the North East. They are a (not for profit) Community Interest Company working with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in the North East.
What is their mission?
Their mission is to help these youngsters “Find out what they can do instead of what they can’t” through diverse and collaborative learning programmes.
All the young people they work with struggle to learn and thrive within our secondary school system. Many suffer anxiety, isolation and mental distress. However given the appropriate opportunities and support, they show resilience, a capacity to learn and motivation to be better.
To achieve success it is vitally important that Foundation Futures can give these young people the experience of environments outside the traditional classroom. Investing in our future generation benefits the whole community and as local North East business we all have a role to play in supporting the most vulnerable people around us.
We would love to see other like-minded local businesses getting involved and pledging their support to help Foundation Futures carry on their excellent work.
What is the purpose of the Sage event on 12th October?
Last year Foundations Futures were able to secure a large allotment space from North Tyneside Council. They aim to use this as an additional learning environment and a space for supporting mental health and community.
This represents a fantastic opportunity but a huge amount of manpower and resources are required to transform this neglected space. This includes major construction and groundworks.
How can I get involved with the charity?
There are many ways in which you can help support Foundation Futures now and in the future by:
- Working in partnership with them to offer these vulnerable young people the educational experiences which enable them to realise their potential.
- Volunteering your services to help transform the neglected allotment.
- Donating raffle prizes and/or purchasing tickets for the event in October
What is the format of the night?
In addition to a lovely 2 course meal, the evening will have a variety of entertainment including 'Kendrick', a local Magician and Comedian to entertain you. There will also be the opportunity to take part in an Auction and to buy raffle tickets for a variety of prizes.
What is the dress code?
The dress code for the evening is 'Smart' and Black Tie is optional.
How much does it cost?
Ticket prices are £60 per head, or a table of 10 persons can be booked for the discounted rate of £500.
What did last year’s fund-raising event achieve?
The generosity of everyone involved in last year’s event allowed Foundation Futures to replace their extremely old mini bus with a much needed new one. Having a reliable mini bus is a crucial part of what they do, in order to allow them to safely transport their students to locations around the North East.
Please help them turn this year's dream of an amazing allotment into reality!
