Family run Newcastle based access hire firm Warren Access have purchased two Multitels in the past twelve months (a 20 and 27 metre), both of which have proved to be a huge success and fantastic additions to their ever growing fleet of van and lorry mounted access platforms.
For many years Warren Access have assisted with access requirements at Alnwick Castle, and further to the introduction of the two Multitels into their fleet, they were approached by Northumberland Estates to carry out an initial site survey to assess the potential access possibilities in and around the castle grounds with these machines.
The Multitels have allowed Warren Access to assist with more intricate and exciting projects, like the ongoing maintenance and mandatory scheduled inspection work at the castle and also at Brizlee Tower, a folly and observation platform overlooking Hulne Park, within the Duke of Northumberands walled estate.
Alnwick Castle is the second largest inhabited castle in England, and has been the home of the Percys, Earls and Dukes of Northumberland since 1309, making this year the 700 year anniversary. The Castle was first restored primarily as a fortress by the 1st Lord Percy of Alnwick in the early 1300′s and portions of this restoration remain today, including the Abbot’s Tower, the Middle Gateway and the Constable’s Tower.
Working in partnership with Historic Property Restoration Ltd (http://www.hprltd.co.uk) and Patrick Parsons Ltd (http://www.patrickparsons.co.uk), Alnwick Castle undergoes continual maintenance and repair work, with much of it requiring the skilled expertise of HPR who provide contracting excellence in the restoration and conservation of historic buildings from listed buildings to world heritage sites. Patrick Parsons Ltd, a Consulting Engineers practice based in Northeast England provide full civil and structural engineering design services.
The outstanding versatility of both Multitels has allowed access to be gained in many areas that have proved difficult in the past in and around The Northumberland Estates. The 27 metre platform with a Gross Vehicle Weight of 7.5 tonne has a maximum working height of 27.3 metres, a 360° turret rotation and a 90° cage rotation, whilst the 20 metre platform falls within the 3.5 tonne Gross Vehicle Weight limit. It is therefore ideal for accessing areas where weight limits are critical, and boasts a maximum outreach of 9.65 metres and a Safe Working Load of 200kgs.
