Alnwick Castle and the surrounding historic buildings require continuous upkeep, and some key areas that need recurrent attention are; monitoring for cracks in walls and regularly de-scaling and re-pointing them. Furthermore, building surveys are often necessary requiring photography work to gain permission for remedial work to be carried out.
The Difficulties
With the amendment of the Work at Height Regulations in 2007, many jobs that may have previously been carried out with the use of ladders now need to be completed by other means.
The cost implication and timescales to erect scaffolding for each job is not a viable option to maintain these ongoing tasks.
Our Solution
Warren Access assists every year with putting up the Alnwick Christmas Lights, and were approached for their expertise in recommending a suitable machine that would cover all of these areas.
Following detailed discussions regarding accessibility, height and outreach required, they recommended hiring their 17mtr Aerial Access platform. It has two independent booms, with a third telescopic section that provides an outreach of 9.7mtrs, and a final 'flick-out' boom which gives exceptional ability to reach over, under and behind obstructions.
